Tatacoa Desert

Tatacoa Desert: for lovers of warm and hot weather,  50 kms heading north east from the city of Neiva is the Tatacoa desert, a very particular geological formation attractive to the visitors because of the beautiful colors and landscape; 

This isolated place has an astronomic observatory, located there because of the strategically geo astronomic position and the geographical conditions on which the desert is located; the sky can be clearly seen most of the year at nights. Hundreds of visitors arrive to this wonderful spot to enjoy solitude and stillness of the desert and stargaze at nights.

 

Is avery good journey mostly because the desert can be crossed by car and all along the way there are swimming pools where visitors can relax and suffocate the temperature.

 

The desert is a beautiful landscape 330 kms square of ochre and grey colors decorated by the green of the cactus… It is a great spot to camp and to enjoy wonderful skies at nights, dusk and dawn.
